A nightclub operator in Lagos State has been arrested by the police for allegedly walking young girls like dogs to social events after making them wear dog collars and chains around their necks.
Mike Eze-Nwalie, who is also known as ‘Pretty Mike’ was accused of dehumanizing the girls by treating them like dogs with chains around their necks with which he drags them around at social events.
Nze Nwalie, 30 was picked up by the police Wednesday on the orders of the Lagos state government after pictures of him purportedly holding chains and dragging two girls by the neck were shared widely on the social media.
It was learnt that the suspect had signed an undertaking not to engage in further dehumanizing treatment of girls and boys alike before he was eventually released by the police.
“I, Mike Eze Nwalie, A.K.A Pretty Mike of 21A Magodo GRA, Luma Street, do hereby undertake to stop whatever act of putting girls on a leash or any other degrading treatment to ladies and guys.
“I am aware that such act offends the law of the State of Lagos and if I repeat it again, there will be legal act towards me. I undertake to issue a letter of apology to the public effective from tomorrow on all my social media platforms,” part of the undertaking document read.
The State’s Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Adeniji Kazeem warned that the state government “would not tolerate any anti-social behavior that attempt to dehumanize any citizen in the state”.
“The Lagos State Government is committed to the protection of the rights of all citizens including children, women and all the vulnerable persons in the State,” he added.
