President Bola Tinubu is today chairing the Federal Executive Council, FEC, meeting of his administration at the Council Chambers of the State House, Abuja.

At the cabinet meeting, Mr Tinubu will swear in the eight newly appointed permanent secretaries approved to serve in the Federal Civil Service.

The meeting features Vice President Kashim Shettima and other ministers, who were away in the United States during the last FEC meeting held on the 23rd of October, 2023.

The Monday cabinet meeting began by 12 p.m and is attended by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume; the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Dr. Folashade Yemi-Esan; the Chief of Staff to the President, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila; the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu; and other members of the cabinet.

At the last Council meeting chaired by President Tinubu, the Federal Executive Council approved of a draft policy for the Nigerian Solid Mineral sector, covering the operations, guidelines, and regulatory framework as well as the sector’s sourcing dynamics.

The Council also approved the signing of an MOU with a German Mining Technology Company, GEO SCAN, to search for Nigeria’s estimated $700bn worth of mineral resources underground.

The FEC in Nigeria is the top advisory body to the President, saddled with the responsibilities of formulating policies, advising on governance matters, and overseeing the implementation of government initiatives.
