The 2023 International Tokyo Toy Show, one of the largest toy trade fairs in the world begins in Tokyo Big Sight convention centre on Thursday.
The toymakers gathered to showcase their latest products.
The four-day event, running from Thursday to Sunday, is expected to bring together 156 firms worldwide to exhibit some 35,000 toys to an estimated 90,000 visitors.
Chinese toymakers, many from the “toy capital,” the southern Chinese city of Shantou, are participating in the exhibition.
The show will be open to the public on Saturday and Sunday, while the first two days are confined to business-related visitors and the press.
The Japan Toy Association said the country’s toy market size went up 106.7 per cent year on year to reach 952.5 billion yen (6.8 billion U.S. dollars) for the period from April 1, 2022 to March 31, 2023.
