40 traders kidnapped along Sokoto-Zamfara Road

Suspected bandit terrorists on Saturday kidnapped about 40 people along Zamfara Sokoto road.

DAILY NIGERIAN reports that most of the victims are traders dealing in cell phones and other accessories at the Bebeji Plaza in Zamfara State.

The gunmen reportedly blocked over 60 travelers who were coming back from Tambuwal local government in Sokoto State but 20 were lucky to escape the attack.

The leader of the market association who confirmed the attack to BBC Hausa said the incident occured near Kureka and Bakura village.

He said about 40 people were in a Coaster bus, while 18 of them were in a Hiace bus.

Spokesperson for the Zamfara State Police command SP. Muhammad Shehu confirmed the attack, he said joint security operations are ongoing to identify and rescue the victims.
