A barrage of Nigerians have taken to their social media handles to seek justice for Izuchukwu aka Izu, who committed suicide after a lady, Nani-Punani, had falsely accused him of rape.

DAILY NIGERIAN reports that on the heels of the accusation, Mr Izu, who was in his late twenties, and a fashion designer by profession, had tried his best to prove his innocence but nobody wanted to listen.

Our correspondent, who monitored the social media trend, gathered that at the early hours of Monday, Nigerians dragged Ms Nani to the gutters over the false rape claims, eliciting her deactivate her Twitter handle.

After succumbing to pressure mounted on her by Nigerians, Ms Nani had, however, come out to describe her allegation on the deceased as ‘non-physical sexual assault’, before suspending her accounts.

In their reactions, a twitter user @Dreylo said: “Rape is a crime. Any rape accusation made against anyone should be thoroughly investigated and taken to court not twitter. And oh! You toxic females on this app that are quick to falsely accuse people, your life will be miserable forever.”

Another user, @Shawnifee, said: “Izu was a guy with a bright future! Izu turned down a lady’s advances and was falsely accused of sexual assault. Izu brought out the facts & was dragged Izu was an innocent person that couldn’t handle the onslaught, which made him take his own life.

“Rape has become weapon women and misandrists are using on Men whom they had a fall out with to get back at them and even if you prove the Accusation is false there’s always a dent on your image. Let there be a lawful prison sentence for False accusers!,” Danny Waters tweeted:

Another user, Kelvin Odans, said: “If you have never been falsely accused of a heinous crime like rape, please stop giving us your two cent on how “suicide is never an option” or some silly lectures about mental strength. Stick that opinion right up your ass and cross your legs to let it settle in.

On his part, @Volqx, who was a victim of the same false rape accusation, said: “I have been falsely accused without anyone supporting me, with everyone I trust against me.

“False accusations pierce the soul and not everyone can stand the stigma, instant trauma & pain. False Rape accusers should not go unpunished, it shouldn’t be bants.”
