Two former governors of Kaduna State, Balarabe Musa and Muktar Yero, on Sunday condoled with the family of Baba-Ahmed over the demise of Mahmoon Baba-Ahmed.

In separate interviews with journalists during their condolence visits to Mr Baba-Ahmed’s family house at Tudun Wada, Zaria, the ex-governors prayed God to grant the soul of the deceased Aljannatil Firdaus (the highest paradise).

Mr Musa said the death of Mr Mahmoon was a great loss not only to the family and Zazzau Emirate but also to Kaduna State and journalism profession.

He said he had worked closely with the deceased whom he described as a humble, noble and complete gentleman, who minded his business at all times.

Mr Musa, who was Second Republic governor of old Kaduna State, urged the family to take his transition as the will of Almighty Allah.

On his part, Mr Yero described Mahmoon as a humble and reliable journalist who left a vacuum that would be difficult to fill.

He said his demise was not too soon but it was an endless journey that awaited every soul.

A senator, Bala Ibn Na-Allah (APC – Kebbi East), also condoled with the deceased’s family.

Mr Na-Allah said: “I am almost a household member of this family, Dr Hakeem happens to be a very close friend of my brother, I always see him as a brother.

“By extension, Mahmoon is a big brother to me and he played a great role in my life.

‘‘It is unfortunate; it is a very big loss to the family, Kaduna State and the country.

“My Allah comfort his immediate family and those of us who are close to the family,” he said.

Mr Na-Allah said Mr Mahmoon would be remembered for his blunt, transparent and unbiased reportage.

Mr Baba-Ahmed, who was a veteran journalist and broadcaster, died on Thursday, February 8, after a brief illness.
