Fidelis Ilechukwu, coach of MFM FC of Lagos, on Friday expressed confidence in the ability of the Flying Eagles to get to the quarter finals of the ongoing FIFA U-20 world cup in Poland.
Ilechukwu told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that none of the teams in the Flying Eagles Group had the quality to stop Nigeria.
He described the Paul Aigbogu tutored boys as truly “flying”, adding that they displayed quality and impressive game over Qatar.
“With what I saw today, quarter finals is nonnegotiable, I don’t think any team in that Group D will stop these boys,” Ilechukwu said.
The coach, who congratulated the team, urged them to continue with such quality pattern of play in order to lift the trophy for the first time.
According to him, what they need to do now is to sustain this form which certainly will give them victory over Ukraine and U.S.
NAN reports that Nigeria’s Flying Eagles defeated Qatar 4-0 in their opening match of the U-21 world cup campaign in Poland.
Maxwell Effiom opened scoring from close range for the Flying Eagles of Nigeria at the 12th minute.
The Flying Eagles made it 2-0 through Okechukwu Offia who doubled the lead for Nigeria in the 24th minute.
Dele Bashiru scored the third goal for Nigeria at 68 minute as Aliyu sealed the victory with the fourth goal in 74th minute.
Nigeria are competing for quarter finals ticket in Group D with Ukraine, U.S and Qatar..
