The Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of the University of Abuja (UniAbuja), Dr Olanrewaju Tejuoso, has approved the appointment of Mrs Roseline Adakayi as Acting Registrar of the institution.
The Acting Director, Information and University Relations, UniAbuja, Dr Habib Yakoob, made the disclosure in a statement on Monday in Abuja.
Mr Yakoob said that the appointment was pending the appointment of a substantive registrar.
The university spokesperson said that the letter of appointment, which was signed by the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Patrica Manko Lar, mandated Adakayi to serve for a period of six months.
He said that the appointment takes effect from May, 12, adding that the new acting registrar would be taking over from Mrs Islamiya Abdulraheem, whose six month appointment as acting registrar expired on May 12.
He said that Adakayi joined the service of UniAbuja as an administrative officer in the Registry on Nov. 2, 1999 and rose through the ranks to become deputy registrar in 2013.
He said that she obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Geography from the University of Jos in 1986; Professional Diploma in Land Surveying from the Federal School of Surveying, Oyo, in 1990.
He also said that she obtained a Postgraduate Diploma in Photogrammetry from Federal Centre for Training in Aerospace Surveys (RECTAS), Ile-Ife in 1994.
“Adakayi is a seasoned administrator who has served in various departments of the University, such as Student Affairs Division (Hostel), Establishments, Institute of Education, Council Division.
“She also served at the College of Health Sciences and the Centre for Distance Learning and Continuing Education before proceeding on sabbatical leave at the University of Jos in April 2024”, he said.
The university spokesperson said that the acting vice-chancellor, while congratulating the new acting registrar, urged her to apply her abundant experience in her new position.
