UPDATED: Benue confirms first case of Coronavirus

Benue State has recorded its first case of Coronavirus as one person has been tested positive for the pandemic in the state.

Governor Samuel Ortom made the disclosure to newsmen in Makurdi on Saturday.

The National Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, has also confirmed the Benue case on its Twitter handle.

The centre added that another seven cases were also recorded in Lagos, bringing the number of the infected persons in the country to 89.

The NCDC wrote: “8 new cases of #COVID19 have been reported in Nigeria, 7 in Lagos and 1 in Benue State. As at 04:00 pm 28th March there are 89 confirmed cases of #COVID19 reported in Nigeria with 1 death.”
