The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Thursday, stormed Ogboko in Imo state and arrested the immediate past governor of the state, Rochas Okorocha.
According to a report by Daily Trust, the commission also arrested his wife Nkechi Okorocha.
Others also arrested include Gerald Okorocha, Okey Okorocha and sealed his Eastern Palm University in Ogboko.
However, when contacted, the Special Adviser (Media) to the ex-governor, Ebere Nzewuji, debunked the rumour, alleging that the rumour could have been
was sparked up by Mr Okorcha’s political opponents, “who have been fighting him even while he was in office.”
“The rumour of the alleged arrest of the immediate governor, His Excellency, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, was sparked by his political opponents who have been fighting him even as the governor of the state.
“As I speak with you, I left his Excellency at the Rochas Foundation College where he has been teaching the students,” Mr Nzuwuji added.
Similarly, the EFCC had also distanced themselves from the alleged arrest.
