Thirteen employees of Zaria Local Government in Kaduna State have been abducted by gunmen while traveling in a bus.

The incident occurred on Monday at 5pm between Giwa and Zaria.

Sources told DAILY NIGERIAN that the abductors only allowed the driver to go in order to report the incident to the local government headquarters and their families.

“The kidnappers stopped their vehicle while returning from condolence visit around Giwa area. They only allowed the driver to go and report the incident to the families,” said a family member of one of the victims.

Again earlier report that all the victims were female, DAILY NIGERIAN gathered that there were four men — Dalhatu Awai, Sulaiman Zailani, Nura Abdullahi and Umar Shehu — among the victims.

The female victims are Deborah Mugu, Halima Tabari, Fatima Abdullahi, Hafsat Zakari and Maryam Fatika.

Others are Huwaila Fate, Hajara Mohammed, Kuluwa Isah and Amina Sulaiman.

Spokesman for the Kaduna State Police Command, Mohammed Jalige, could not be reached for comment at the time of filing this report.
