2.5 million visitors expected to grace 44th Kano Trade Fair – KACCIMA

The Kano Chamber of Commerce, Industry Mines and Agriculture, KACCIMA, has said that it is expecting 2.5 million people to attend the 44th Kano International Trade Fair.

KACCIMA also disclosed that no fewer than 250 companies from within and outside Nigeria are expected to participate in the Trade Fair, scheduled to hold between November 25 to December 9.

The president of KACCIMA, Garba Imam, made the disclosure while briefing journalists on Tuesday on the level of preparations so far made for hosting the event.

He said the foreign companies are expected from other countries including Indonesia, Pakistan, India, Egypt, Chad and Niger Republic.

According to him, no fewer than 2.5 million visitors are also expected to attend the trade  fair which is expected to be declared open by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.

Mr Imam noted that the chamber had made adequate provision of facilities, as well as adequate security to safeguard lives and property of participants and visitors to the Trade Fair.

“As part of the strategies to achieve these arrangements, the council has embarked on contact and advocacy visits to all category of participants and partners of the Trade Fair.

“The major partners visited include the Dangote Group, BUA Group, Mamuda Industries, Nigerian Ports Authority, CBN, NCC, NDIC, Lee Group, Aspira, banks and other financial institutions, foreign missions and embassies, the National Assembly, Federal and State MDAS and many other stakeholders towards mobilizing quality participation at the Fair.

“This year’s Trade Fair is intended to be unique as it has made special arrangements for exhibitions, entertainment for visitors, provision of stands for media partners and provision for philanthropic and social organizations,” Mr Imam said.

He said the theme of the Trade Fair which is Economic Diversification, Inclusive Growth And Sustainable Development, has the following sub-themes: Building Domestic Capacity for Export Diversification, Enhancing Agricultural Value Chain for Global Market and Unlocking Investment Opportunities in Solid Minerals.

“The choice of the theme and the sub-themes is informed by the fact that Economic Diversification is key to achieving inclusive growth and sustainable socio-economic development. it is the tool embraced by the global community in stimulating export drive and domestic self-sufficiency, hence the choice which cut across commerce, industry, mines and agriculture. In other words, the theme and subthemes are tailored to the core mandate of KACCIMA.

He assured that KACCIMA would remain focused at the development of Kano economy and, indeed, the Nigerian economy generally.
