We are set for presidential campaign — APGA National Chairman

The All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, says all is set for its presidential campaign and official presentation of all its candidates for 2019 general elections in in Awka on Thursday.

Dr Victor Oye, National Chairman of APGA, who disclosed this while speaking with newsmen in Awka on Wednesday, said no fewer than one million party faithful from across Nigeria were expected at the campaign rally.

He said choice of Awka was because Anambra, was the place APGA had a government, adding that it was expected that all markets in the state would be closed.

“Our campaign flag-off will take place tomorrow (December 6) and it will attract part members and supporters from the 36 states of the federation and FCT.

“We expect a crowd of about one million persons, our guests are already arriving and each of our candidates are coming with their supporters. The enthusiasm is very high and there will be live artistes.

“We pray to God for the success of the event and journey mercy for all those that will come and also for their return journey to their base,” he said.

Mr Oye expressed hope that APGA would make a huge impact in 2019 general elections with retired Gen. John Gbor as presidential candidate.

“APGA is a force to reckon with.”

Also speaking, Chief Uchenna Okogbuo, Chairman of the 2019 APGA Campaign Rally Planning Committee, assured  of party’s readiness for a successful event.

Mr Okogbuo, who is the Deputy National Chairman of APGA, said event would to be carnival-like that could change the political thinking of Nigerian electorate.

“The planning committee has been working for the past two weeks, security architecture has been drawn and logistics for seamless mobilisation are all in place.

“We don’t have problem with security, we shall leverage on what our dear Governor of Anambra has put in place, in terms of security, to stage a hitch-free event.

“Our candidates from all parts of the country have voluntarily agreed to come with their supporters and we are prepared to make them enjoy their outing here.”

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Dr Alex Ekwueme Square, the venue of the rally has started wearing a new look with presence of security personnel keeping guard.

Billboards and posters bearing the images of APGA presidential and vice presidential candidates were seen around the vicinity of the venue while other preparations, including decorations, were going on as at press time.
