People of Kano are kept in suspense as they recently awoke to the sight of tower-like structures sprouting – like mushrooms – on State Road.
The people of the ancient city wondered what else needed on the most beautiful road in the state that new construction work is taking place.
While others said it was meant to support solar street lights, others said it was meant to beautify the road.
A commenter on Facebook, Umar Lawan, said: “that combination of high elevation, small width, and low quality blocks, is a recipe for disaster.”
Another commenter, Ibrahim Bargoni said the road would be covered with canopies.
Not only ordinary pedestrian was kept in suspense as even some top officials of government are at a loss as to what the governor is planning to do.
“We’ve been asking him but he said we should wait until the work is completed. Only the contractors and a very few government officials know what the governor is planning to do,” said a close aide of the governor.
But DAILY NIGERIAN gathered reliably that the structures were erected to support beautification arches crossing each lane at regular intervals.
It was also gathered that the governor saw the beautification work in Imo and asked the governor, Rochas Okorocha, to link him up with the contractors and do the same in Kano.
