The Emir of Bauchi Alhaji Rilwanu Sulaimanu Adamu has suspended a top title holder in the emirate, the Wazirin Bauchi Bello Kirfi, indefinitely as a member of the emirate council over alleged disloyalty and unruly behaviors.
The title of Waziri, vizier, is conferred on the trusted person, to serve as a senior counsellor in emirates.

In a statement by the spokesman of the emirate, Salmanu Lame, in Bauchi, the emir explained that Mr Kirfi’s suspension which was permanent and with immediate effect, following his unsatisfactory conducts.
Alhough the statement did not specifically mention the nature of the “unsatisfactory conduct” that led to the suspension of the Waziri, a source close to the palace said the reason for the action might not be unconnected with what transpired between the Emir and the Waziri last Friday at the Bauchi central mosque during Juma’at prayer.
Our source who craved anonymity said “when the Waziri came into the mosque, he saw Adamu Aliyu (the Walin Katagum) sitting close to the emir of Bauchi, which was supposedly his position. The Waziri felt it was not right and promptly reacted by asking the Wali to change his position.
The source said the Wali stood up, the emir held his hand and ordered him to remain where he was sitting.
The action of the emir, according to our source, provoked the Waziri, who reacted angrily by shouting at the emir.
The source further quoted the Waziri as saying “Can Adamu Aliyu (Walin Katagum) have the courage and audacity to sit close to the Emir of Katagum as he sat near the emir of Bauchi, which is not his kingdom?”
This public confrontation by the Waziri, witnesses said, angered the emir.
