Shuaibu Rabi, one of the suspected murderers of immediate past Chief of Defence Staff, Alex Badeh said he was killed during a robbery attack, following a hint that the late Badeh was conveying huge cash to buy a parcel of land in Nasarawa state.

The suspect, during the confession with the Police said the plan was to block Mr Badeh and collect the money but while they were at it the deceased attempted to knock down Churuma with his car.

“He attempted to hit Churuma with his car but Churuma dodged to the side and then opened fire on him. After, we opened the car and found a bag of money and went with it,” the suspect said.

But prior to the arrest of the suspect, there were speculations that Mr Badeh was assassinated because he was the only one killed during the attack.

Mr Badeh’s friend, who was in the vehicle with him was abducted by the hoodlums but released after his family paid a ransom reportedly running into millions of naira.

The former CDS’ four military guards, who provided security, were said to have been a few kilometres away when the attack took place.

They were subsequently detained and questioned by investigators.
