The governorship candidate of the Action Democratic Party, ADP, in Kano State, Sha’aban Sharada, has boasted that he would win the 2023 governorship election in the state.

According to him, he would emerge the winner before 12 noon on election day.

Mr Sharada, who represents Kano Municipal in the House of Representatives, stated this during an interview with BBC Hausa service on Wednesday.

DAILY NIGERIAN reports that the lawmaker, who is the chairman of the House Committee on National Security and Intelligence, contested for the APC gubernatorial ticket but lost to the deputy governor of the state, Nasiru Gawuna.

He said the ADP would make history in Kano, noting that the party would be the first party to win an election in less than six months of existence.

“By the special grace of God, I am the person Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje would hand over to. You will hear before 12 noon on election day that I, Shaaban Sharada, have won the election,” he said.

Giving reasons for his defection, the outspoken lawmaker said he dumped the ruling party due to the injustice meted out on him.

The lawmaker, who had also served as Personal Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari, added that the president would not be disappointed with his decision to dump the APC, saying the president abhors injustice.
