A 60-year-old woman, Florence Sholeye, was on Tuesday docked in an Ojo Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for allegedly assaulting a man in Alaba International market.
The police charged Sholeye with breach of peace and assault.
She, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Prosecution Counsel, Insp Esther Adesulu, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on July 12 at No 41, Alaba International market in Ojo Lagos state.
She said the defendant had an altercation with Paulinus Mgbechi.
The prosecution said the defendant pushed the complainant, held him by the shirt, and slapped him.
She said the defendant also conducted herself in a manner likely to cause a breach of peace by her action.
The offence, she said, contravenes the provisions of sections 168 and 173 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State 2015.
Magistrate D.S. Odukoya admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N20,000.
She adjourned the case until Oct. 18 to mention
