Justice T.B Adegoke of the Federal High Court, Asaba, on Thursday sentenced a 40-year-old-woman, Aghogho Moriafe, to two years imprisonment for illicit possession of fake and expired drugs as well as for obstructing inspection.
She was arraigned on a three-count charge of illegal display of drugs, possession of fake drugs and obstruction of NAFDAC inspection.
The Prosecutor, Adumen Jombo, had told the court that the accused committed the offences on Nov. 11, 2015 and March 10, 2016 at Oghare-Eki in Delta.
He said that the offences were contrary to Sections 2(1)(b), 2(1)(a), 1(a) and 12(a) and punishable under Sections 3(a) and 17 of the Counterfeit and Fake Drugs and Unwholesome Processed Food (Miscellaneous Provision) Act Cap C34 laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.
The accused pleaded guilty and the judge sentenced her to two years imprisonment on the three counts of illegal display of drugs, possession of fake and expired drugs and obstruction of NAFDAC inspection.
