A Japanese man who was officially the world’s oldest man, Yasutaro Koide, a Japanese, died at the age of 112 years.
Koide had hit the Guinness World Records as oldest living man.
A report from Tokyo said Koide, who was hospitalised in the central city of Nagoya, died from chronic heart failure.
He was born in 1903, the year the Wright Brothers built the first successful aeroplane, and worked as tailor in the western Japanese city of Tsuruga.
The report said in 2015, the number of centenarians surpassed 60,000 for the first time in Japan, one of the world’s top countries for longevity.
