About three years after his deposition as the 14th Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II has paid a visit to the state on Wednesday.

Mr Sanusi was deposed on March 9, 2020 by the administration of Governor Abdullahi Ganduje over alleged disloyalty and insubordination.

He was initially banished to Loko Village in Nassarawa State where he was later moved to Awe town.

The ex-emir was confined in Awe town until March 13, 2020, when the court ordered that he should be granted freedom.

Arriving at the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport, Mr Sanusi who is the Leader of the Tijjaniyya Order in Nigeria went straight to his mother’s residence located along the Ibrahim Dabo Road in Kano metropolis.

In a video footage, the former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, was seen in full royal regalia, exchanging pleasantries with delegations of family members, traditional title holders and well-wishers.

A source close to the Emir disclosed that Mr Sanusi was in Kano on his way to Dutse, Jigawa state Capital, but stopped over at Kano due to bad weather.

“The Emir could not go directly to Jigawa State because of bad weather, and as he touched down in Kano, supporters who got information of his coming stormed the airport to see him.

“Thereafter, he decided to go and greet his mother,” the source said.
