The Yobe State House of Assembly has approved a virement of over N10 billion presented by the executive branch to augment some codes in the 2019 budget for the resuscitation of three dormant industries in the state.

The House Majority Leader, Bukar Mustapha, who moved a motion on the request for the virement, said the request would not affect the size of the state’s 2019 budget as earlier approved and signed.

According to him, the funds would be used to fully undertake the resuscitation of industries that had been dormant in the state for many years.

“The virement would enable the state government to inject funds for the resuscitation of the industries with a view boosting economic activities and even creating job opportunities for the teaming youths in the state”, the majority leader said.

The Deputy Speaker of the House, Mohammed Bello also noted that the virement, “will not only help create jobs but will help boost internal revenue generation and thus reduce the state’s over dependence on the monthly federal revenue allocation”.

Speaking during a debate on the floor of the House, Speaker Ahmed Mirwa commended members for their valuable contributions.
