Yobe records peaceful Sallah celebration

Yobe State has recorded another peaceful Eid-el-Kabir Sallah celebration, with thousands of residents trooping out eid grounds for prayers.

Ibrahim Gaidam, his deputy Abubakar Ali, APC National Secretary Mai Mala Buni, former deputy governor Aliyu Bagare and many heads of security, intelligence and law enforcement were among thousands of Muslim faithful who observed the Eid prayers, marking Eid-el Kabir at the Yobe State Mosque and Islamic Centre, Damaturu today.

Led by Imam Ustaz Hudu Muhammad, the Eid sermon was themed around love and devotion to Almighty Allah by sacrificing whatever one holds dear for the sake of God.

Mr Muhammad called attention to the need to extend service to God by serving humanity through charitable acts.

The Eid prayer leader also spoke to the need to participate in the political process by having a voter’s card and by voting on election day and choosing God-fearing leaders who would serve the people selflessly.

Following the Eid prayers, Mr Gaidam performed his Eid sacrifice at the Government House by slaughtering his ram and asking his aides and others to go home and perform theirs.

The governor is due to host an Eid reception at the Government House later in the day.

The Eid prayers were reported peaceful in all parts of the state.
