The minister of Youth Development, Jemila Ibrahim, has hailed President Bola Tinubu for increasing the allowance of National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, members from N33,000 to N77,000.
In a statement issued on Thursday, Ms Ibrahim said the gesture was in fulfilment of the Renewed Hope Agenda of the president.
The minister highlighted the central role her office has played in supporting NYSC’s initiative, especially in ensuring that the welfare of corp members remains a priority for the administration.
“The President’s vision for Nigerian youth has always been clear—he supports any initiative that improves their welfare and prospects.
“This allowance increase is a direct reflection of that commitment, and the Ministry is pleased that this has become a reality,” the minister noted.
She also commended the leadership of the NYSC for its advocacy and dedication.
Ms Ibrahim said: “The increase is not just a response to economic challenges; it is part of a strategic agenda to enhance the conditions of service for our youth, ensuring they are well-equipped to contribute to national development.
She added that the allowance increase aligns with the broader objectives of the administration to foster an environment where Nigerian youth can thrive.
She assured that, “this milestone is just one of many initiatives the Ministry of Youth Development will continue to pursue to improve the lives of youths”.
