Zamfara govt earmarks N100m for renovation of emirs’ lodges

The Zamfara State Government says it has earmarked the sum of N100 million in its 2021 budget proposal for the renovation of two Emirs’ lodges in Gusau and Kaduna State.

The state Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Jibo Magayaki-Kaura, made the disclosure on Wednesday during a town hall meeting organized by the ministry at Talata Mafara Local Government Area headquarters.

Speaking on the essence of the town hall meeting, the commissioner said that through the gathering, citizen could get to know the projects the government would be executing in their area and, at the same time, be able to suggest areas of improvement or amendment.

He said: “The opinion of the participants would be forwarded to the state House of Assembly for changes and amendments to the budget.”

Recall that the state government had also earmarked N1billion in its 2021 budget for the construction and renovation of Juma’at mosques, Islamic schools, cemeteries, preaching sessions and other religious activities.

Speaking during the 2021 budget defence before the Assembly last Friday, the state Commissioner for Religious Affairs, Sheikh Tukur-Jangebe, noted that the state government planned to execute various development projects for the propagation of Islam under the ministry and its parastatal agencies in 2021.

He said: “In the 2021 budget, we plan to upgrade our Islamic schools, construct new ones and improve the condition of our cemeteries.

“Out of the proposed amount, we plan to enhance capacity of our Islamic scholars,’’ Mr Jangebe added.

The Chairman, State Sharia Research Commission, Abubakar Sodangi, also said the Commission planned the publication of Islamic Shari’a books.

“In the 2021 budget, we proposed to publicise Shari’a research books in four languages – Arabic, Hausa, English and Fulfulde.

“The aim is to enhance the capacity of Islamic scholars in the state,’’ he said.
