Zamfara State Government says it has released N1 billion for the rehabilitation and expansion of the Gusau Water project.

The Commissioner of Water Resources, Ibrahim Mayana, announced this while receiving the State Dep. Governor Sen. Hassan Nasiha, during a special visit to the State Water Board.

The commissioner said following the water shortage in the state capital, the government considered the need to rehabilitate and enhance the capacity of the project.

He said the water shortage was due to the breakdown of the operational plants that pumped water in all the areas of the Gusau metropolis.

Mr Mayana said the reconstruction of the plant was already in progress and very soon the water shortage in the metropolis would end.
