Zamfara govt to revive ‘abandoned ginneries’

The governor of Zamfara state, Bello Matawallen  has said that plans have been concluded to revive 5 abandoned ginneries in the state.

He said the state had 15 robust ginneries but none has been working for many year

He was speaking when the State Chamber of Commerce and Industries paid him a  courtesy call at the Government House Tuesday.

“One of our plans, which has already began, is the contractual agreement between us and the Afreximbank where a total of one billion US dollars will be Invested in the state. Already, the process for building a five star hotel in the state has commenced under this arrangement”, Mr Matawalle revealed.

According to him, the state is going to also develop a blueprint for proper exploitation of its mineral deposits to ensure acceptability worldwide.

He said, “This will also comprise of proper pricing policy and estabishing of standard office for the business in the state.”

He commended his visitors for their commitments to the Industrialisation drive of his administration.

He promises to support them in their Domestic Trade Fair which is  billed for next month, andurged them to make it an annual affair.

“Trade fair is the major avenue through which the world will come to know our industrial, mineral and commercial worth”, He said.

Earlier, the chairman of the group, Alhaji Abdullahi Maiwada, commended Mr Matawalle’s administration for bringing peace and harmony to the state.

“Your Excellency, as a result of banditry in the past, our members have been robbed much of their capital, we have lost so much that we need the assistance of the government to bounce back,” he said.
