Zamfara mechatronic training centre for commissioning soon – Jelani Aliyu

The Director-General, National Automotive Design and Development Council, NADDC, Jelani Aliyu, has disclosed that an automotive and mechatronic training centre would be commissioned in Zamfara State before the end of the third quarter of 2020.

Mr Aliyu made the statement during an inspection tour at the ongoing work on the Council’s Automotive Training Centre in Gusau, the state state recently.

According to him, the centre is at advanced stage of construction and would become operational by the third quarter the year.

He said the project is one of the seven Automotive Training Centres NADDC has started developing in 2019 across the country.

Mr Aliyu further revealed that a centre would be developed in each of the six geopolitical zones and the seventh in the FCT.

He said: “What we are building in Zamfara and across the nation are exciting centres of technical empowerment, to transform our youth into masters of all the new advanced technologies and systems that are now integrated in new age vehicles: the mechanical systems themselves, embedded ICT systems and Electric Vehicle powertrains”

Mr Aliyu disclosed that the centres are situated in Gusau – Zamfara, Abakaliki – Ebonyi, Osogbo – Osun, Bauchi – Bauchi, Lokoja – Kogi, Benin City – Edo, and Abuja – FCT.

He further noted that the projects are in the Council’s efforts to empower Nigerian youth with advanced Automotive and Mechatronics technical skills that would ensure productivity and reliance.

“The Centres will be equipped with high precision modern training modules and tools, and will also be staffed with professional instructors.

“Each centre will be run in collaboration with sectoral experts to empower youth within their zones,” he stated.

Also at the inspection were the State Deputy Governor, Mahadi Gusau and Senator Iyiola Omisore, member, NADDC Governing Board.
