Governor Bello Matawalle of Zamfara State has described former Governor Abdulazeez Yari as ignorant and pathetic loser, following alleged uncomplimentary remarks and series of blackmail credited to Mr Yari on the present administration in the state.
Recall that Mr Yari had claimed that the state government muscled the All Progressives Congress, APC, members into joining the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the state.
On Tuesday, Mr Yari had petitioned the National Chairman of the APC, Adams Oshiomhole, alleging a ploy by the Matawalle-led administration to break their strength of opposition.
Apparently, Mr Yari’s allegation is coming up on the heels of the recent gale of defection by the chairmen and Councilors of about 14 local government areas of the state.

However, Mr Matawalle, in a swift reaction through his Special Adviser on Public Enlightenment, Media and Communication, Zailani Bappa, described the allegation as a “sheer act of mischief”.
He said: “To put the record in its proper perspective, the nine local Government Chairmen and their Councilors decided on their own volition to join the PDP following their appreciation of the way his Excellency is handling the affairs of the state.
“Indeed, if Governor Matawalle wanted to muscle the local government Chairmen into submission, he would not have waited for nine months before he does it.
“But instead, Governor Matawalle has worked with these local government chairmen for nine months amicably, even as they remained in their own political party.
“And still, there are other local government chairmen who have opted to remain in the APC and the Governor is not in any way frowning at their choice.
“It is therefore a sheer act of mischief to allude the mass decamping of political office holders from the APC to the PDP in Zamfara State to intimidation or harassment,” the statement noted.
