Governor Bello Matawalle of Zamfara State says the RUGA project initiated by his administration would serve as a foundation for re-integration of repentant bandits and those fully interested in grazing.
A statement signed by the governor’s Special Adviser on Media and Communications, Zailani Bappa, quoted Mr Matawalle as saying so while delivering a lecture at the National Institute for Security Studies, Bwari, Abuja.
According to him, the pioneer one is almost completed at Maradun while construction for the other two will begin very soon.
DAILY NIGERIAN gathered that the governor, who was invited by the Institute to address participants of its Executive Intelligence Management Course (No13), shared his experiences on Security and Development.
In his paper titled, “Promoting National Security And Sustainable Development: The Zamfara State Experience”, the governor discussed extensively on the issues of security and development in the state, under his administration.
While discussing the causes of insecurity in the state, the governor said: “Security of lives and property is paramount, hence the decision by my administration to take it headlong on assumption.
“Honesty and determination saw me through to the success of returning peace to the then troubled state.
“The present peace attained in the state will be maintained while developmental projects will be speeded for the benefit of the citizens.”
