Zaura endorses Gawuna, picks Senate nomination form

A flamboyant governorship aspirant in Kano, AA Zaura has picked the APC nomination to vie for Kano Central Senatorial seat in 2023.

In a statement released Tuesday by his campaign office, Mr Zaura promised to support Nasir Gawuna, the deputy governor of Kano State and his running mate, Murtala Garo.

Mr Zaura said he accepted the decision of Governor Abdullahi Ganduje to field Messrs Gawuna and Garo as the party’s consensus governorship and deputy governorship candidates in good faith.

I am happy to intimate my teeming supporters and the general public that sequel to series of political processes: meetings, contacts and consultations, and in the quest to have a common and united front in Kano state APC to face the 2023 General Elections under the watch and guidance of our leader His Excellency, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje OFR the following decisions were reached and agreed:

“That His Excellency, Dr. Nasir Yusuf Gawuna will be our aspirant in the coming May, 2022 APC primary elections and will Insha ALLAH subsequently be the party’s Flagbearer for the 2023 Kano gubernatorial elections.

“That Hon. Murtala Sule Garo, former Commissioners for Local government and chieftaincy affairs will deputize His Excellency, Gawuna in this struggle.

“I will contest to be a senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to represent the good people of Kano Central

“It is worthy of note that I have not come to politics as “a do or die affair”. I am in Politics because I believe I have something special and unique to offer and irrespective of platform, my best will continue to be put in, to better the lives of our people in Kano state. It is for this reason, I have accepted the decision to support the Gawuna/Garo ticket for Kano in 2023 Insha ALLAH. My firm belief is that Kano will continue to be Great insha ALLAH,” Mr Zaura said in the statement.
