The Jigawa State Governor, Badaru Abubakar, has thrown his weight on the All Progressives Congress, APC’s proposed direct primary system, saying that the system was the best alternative that would give the party members a role to play as well as a sense of belonging.
The governor who stated this through his Special Assistant on New Media, Auwal D. Sankara, however, said that even if the state chapter of the party would not adopt the system, he had no fear over his fate at the 2019 polls.
According to him, his outstanding performance in the state would sell him to the state’s party members and the electorates.
However, Mr Badaru’s endorsement was rejected by the state chapter of the party, lamenting that the challenges associated with the direct primary systems include logistics, insecurity and insufficiency of time.
