A Kano-based philanthropist, Abdullahi Namama, has commenced the donation of N5,000 each to over 200 households to ease the impact of Coronavirus lockdown partially imposed in the state.
Addressing a press conference on Friday in Kano, Mr Namama who is the Chief Executive Officer of AA Namama Global Business, disclosed that he had also begun the distribution of about 1000 face masks to residents.
Mr Namama explained that the pilot cash donation was launched at Shagari quarters, Kumbotso Local Government Area of the state on Friday, adding that over 200 pieces of the face mask had been handed over to the ward head for onward distribution in the area.
“By tomorrow (Saturday), we will continue the distribution of the N5,000 cash to each of the 200 households across the Kano metropolis.
“I have started with Shagari Quarters because it is my birth place. But I will make sure other areas are captured in the distribution.
“This little gesture is part of my commitment to ease the suffering of this lockdown on people.
“It is widely believed that people are suffering. Therefore, as part of my Corporate Social Responsibility, I deem it fit to give as little as this to the needy,” Mr Danmama said.
Mr Danmama, a graduate of Information Technology at International University of East Africa, Uganda, also announced that by May 1, he would commence rice production in the state.
He added that the company, Namama Rice Mill, would be a subsidiary of the AA Namama Global Business which was established in 2017.
