Supreme Court affirms Adeleke as governor of Osun
The supreme court on Tuesday affirmed the election of Ademola Adeleke as the governor of Osun.
Delivering judgment, a five-member panel of the apex court held that the court of appeal correctly reinstated Adeleke as governor of Osun.
Meanwhile, Mr Adeleke has promised people of the state more dividend of democracy after the Supreme Court affirmed him as the duly elected governor of Osun on Tuesday.
Mr Adeleke who spoke to journalists at his resident in Ede on Tuesday, shortly after the Supreme Court revalidated his victory at the July 16, 2023, governorship election, said: “the task ahead is making sure residents of the state enjoy good governance.
“I feel good, I feel great about today’s judgement.
“I know God will not start something and will not finish it. That is just my strength.
“The joy of God is my strength. I held onto that and he has proven it today.
“Now that I have been affirmed as the duly elected governor, it is time to give the people of the state more dividend of democracy.
“To me, if you want to be a leader, you must have the fear of God. I have the fear of God, I don’t deceive the people,” he said.
Mr Adeleke assured people in the state that what he has promised during his electioneering campaign, he would do.
“I introduced what they call fact check. Go and fact check me when I was in the Senate.
“Everything I said I was going to do , I did it then and now I have started doing what I promised the people of Osun.
“Even when the litigation was still going on, we were still working: fixing roads and doing what we were expected to do. It is not business as usual.
“What the past administration were use to is business as usual but now, the real governance is here in Osun State.” he said.
