A member of the House of Representatives, Nasir Garo, has declared support for the candidate of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Olusola Ojo-Eleka, in the Saturday governorship election in Ekiti State.
Mr Garo, who represents Gwarzo/Kabo Federal Constituency on the platform of All Progressives Congress, APC, said he was against crackdown on supporters of the PDP by security agents.
He however said the PDP has no moral ground to fault the crackdown.
“Let me be very clear that I am in R-APC, I will love that PDP win the #EkitiDecide2018 & I’m not in support of what d security agencies are doing but @OfficialPDPNig does not have any moral ground to complain on the treatment @GovAyoFayose is getting in the hands of our security agencies,” he tweeted.
Mr Garo is a loyalist of a former governor of Kano State, Rabiu Kwankwaso, and a member of the Buba Galadima-led Reformed-APC.
On July 6, Mr Galadima said their group has majority in the National Assembly, noting that he could give directive to the majority members of the National Assembly to begin process for the impeachment of President Muhammadu Buhari.
“I want to say that today, as I sit here, if I give a directive to our members in the National Assembly to impeach for constitutional infractions, it would be carried out because we have that majority,” he said.
Mr Galadima said contrary to a statement made by the APC national chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, that the people behind the rAPC were inconsequential, it was those opposed to them that lacked integrity and honesty.
