Bandits have attacked a village in the home town of the Minister of Police Affairs, Muhammad Dingyadi, in Bodinga Local Government Area of Sokoto State, abducting the wife of the Chief Imam of the area.

DAILY NIGERIAN gathered that the bandits had been terrorising the Dingyadi District comprising almost 18 villages.

It was also gathered that the gunmen came into the town in motorcycles in the early hours of today (Thursday) and had their field day without any security confrontation.

The Senior Special Assistant to Governor Aminu Tambuwal, Yusuf Dingyadi, confirmed the attack to our correspondent via a telephone chat on Thursday.

He said: “Last night, armed bandits reportedly attacked Saketa Village in Dingyadi District of Bodinga Local Government, killing one man and abducting the chief imam’s wife and daughter-in-law,” he said.

Mr Dingyadi, however, said that normalcy had since been returned to the town as detachment of police operatives were deployed to the area.

DAILY NIGERIAN could not reach the spokesperson of the state Police Command, Sanusi Abubakar, whose phones were all switched off as at the time of filing this report.
