A suicide bomber blew himself up near a mosque in Gombi town of Adamawa state, as worshippers gather for the weekly congregational prayer on Friday.
Gombi was one of the towns of Adamawa state taken over by Boko Haram insurgents before they were dialodged prior to the March 2015 election.
A witness told DAILY NIGERIAN that the bomber struck at around 12:30pm at a weekly market adjacent to the mosque.
“The attacker was ripped into pieces by the impact of the blast. We had to disperse quickly to avoid a follow-up attack,” a resident of Gombi, Aliyu Hammayero told this newspaper.
According to the eyewitness account, seven people have been certified dead, while many others sustained injuries.
