President Muhammadu Buhari has sent the names of Stephen Ocheni and Suleiman Hassan to Senate for confirmation as ministers to replace two vacant positions in the Federal Executive Council.
Mr. Ocheni, who hails from Kogi State, will, upon Senate screening, fill the vacuum left by James Ocholi.
Mr Ocholi died on March 6, 2016 in motor accident in Kaduna.
Mr. Hassan, hails Gombe State, and will replace Amina Mohammed who left the cabinet for a top United Nations job.
Senate President Bukola Saraki read Mr. Buhari’s letter, requesting screening and confirmation of the two ministerial nominees at the plenary on Wednesday.
Mr. Ocheni, born in 1959, is a native of Uwowo in Igalamela local government area of Kogi State.
Currently, he is a professor of Public Sector Accounting and Dean, Faculty of Management Sciences at Kogi State University.
Previously, he was a Director, Finance and Accounts, in the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2010 – 2013), and Director, Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation (2003 – 2010).
Mr. Hassan is a politician. He was the chairman of the defunct Congress of Progressive Change in Gombe State.
