Mr Wakili’s dramatic gesticulation and affirmative tone in a video last year drew funny reactions on the Internet.
“Drug abuse is prevalent in the society,” he said in the video.
“Everywhere is drug abuse, everybody complains about drug abuse. Men abuse drugs, women abuse drugs, adult abuse drugs, children abuse drugs.”
Kano State often tops the chart of drug abuse in the country.
On Monday, the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, said it has dislodged 35 drug joints and hotspots in Kano State.
The state commander of the agency, Ibrahim Abdul, said the success was recorded due to the efforts of its officers during their special operations to keep the state free from drug abuse as the 2019 general elections approach.
“During the period under review, 35 joints and hotspots were dislodged at the following areas: Plaza, Sanya Olu, Kabuga, Rimin Kebe and Danzaki village.
“Others are Sauna, Wurare, Aisami, Sabon Titi, Dorayi, Hauren Gadagi, Kwanar Dan-marke Motor park, Chalawa, Madobi, Ring Road, Farawa village, Mariri Motor park and Kofar Ruwa, among others,” he said.
Insiders say the new commissioner police has the commitment and capacity to tackle the menace in the state.
