Emir of Kano’s mother, Maryam Bayero, is dead

Maryam Bayero, the mother of the emir of Kano Aminu Bayero, is dead.

The deceased, who was also the mother of emir of Bichi, Nasiru Bayero, was the oldest living widow of the late Emir Ado Bayero.

Family sources confirmed the death to DAILY NIGERIAN, saying she died on Saturday morning at a Cairo hospital, Egypt.

She held the title of Mai Babban Daki, meaning the King Mother.

In a condolence message issued by Kano State commissioner for Information, Muhammad Garba, Governor Abdullahi Ganduje  described the deceased as a highly disciplined and honest mother who trained her children on the path of Allah.

The governor comforted the emirs to take solace in the fact that their mother lived a good life, devoted to serving Allah and humanity.

Mr Ganduje said her death at this time had created a vacuum difficult to be filled especially for her two sons who need most her motherly guidance and counsel.

The governor prayed Allah the Almighty to grant the soul of the deceased Aljannah Firdausi and the fortitude for the family, the entire people of the two emirates to bear the loss.
