In line with the Federal Government’s desire to ensure a strict compliance with the application of the Freedom of Information (FOI) Act of 2011, the Federal Ministry of Finance on Wednesday, organised a one-day enlightenment programme for officers in the ministry on grade level 10 to 14.
The Permanent Secretary, Mrs Anastasia Nwokobia Daniel, told the participants that the ministry, being a frontline one, would not leave any stone unturned in implementing the Act to the letters.
In a keynote address at the workshop in Abuja, she noted that the Office of the Attorney General and Minister of Justice had issued a guideline on the periodic sensitisation on the implementation of the Act in government institutions and agencies.
According to her, the ministry had recorded a remarkable level of implementation of the FOIA as a result of adhering to periodic training and sensitisation of different cadres in the ministry.
“Today we can comfortably say that there is an improvement and better cordial relationship between the ministry and its numerous public, however, there is still room for improvement on the area of information management and dissemination,” she said.
