A former minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Bala Mohammed, has been remanded in Kuje Prisons over fraudulent deals while he was in charge of FCT.
Mr Mohammed was arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC on a six-count charge bordering on abuse of office and failure to declare some properties belonging to him.
He was brought before a High Court of the FCT for alleged involvement in the collection of gratification to the tune of N550 million, while in office as minister.
The former minister however pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Justice Abubakar Talba therefore adjourned the matter till May 12 for ruling on bail application.
He then ordered that theaccused be remanded in prison custody pending the determination of the bail application.
Late last year, Mr Mohammed was detained by the EFCC for involvement in controversial Land Swap deal in which the FCT is said to have lost about N1 trillion.
