The Kano State Police Command has quizzed Ali Muhammad Alibaba, Special Adviser to Governor of Kano State on Religious Affairs, over comments linking ownership of Aliko Oil Company Limited to a former governor of the state, Rabiu Kwankwaso.
Mr Alibaba made the claim in a recent radio discussion programme in Kano.
In the programme, Mr Alibaba had challenged Mr Kwankwaso to come out and swear to an oath that he was not the owner of the company.
Mr Alibaba said the company’s red and white theme is similar to Mr Kwankwaso’s political symbol.
Dissatisfied with the comments, the management of Aliko Oil, on Thursday lodged a complaint against Mr Alibaba at the Kano State Police Command headquarters in Bompai.
DAILY NIGERIAN gathered that the command invited Mr Alibaba for questioning and consequently detained him.
After hours of questioning, sources said the command later released him on bail, with a condition of retracting the comments on the same radio station where he made the allegation.
On Saturday, Mr Alibaba featured on the radio station, retracted the comment and apologized to the company for linking its ownership to the former governor.
When contacted, the police spokesman in Kano, Abdullahi Haruna, said he was not aware of the case as he was out of the state for some days.
