The Special Adviser to Kano State governor on Special Duties, Ibrahim Khalil, has resigned.
Although the cleric-cum-politician did not state his reason for dumping the governor, credible sources said Mr Khalil’s decision may not be unconnected with the video clips showing the governor receiving a bribe.
“Mallam is not happy with the issue of these video clips, and he is convinced that they are genuine. So he resigned from the government to protect his integrity,” said a source close to the cleric.
The governor is currently facing probe and imminent impeachment by Kano State House of Assembly over the issue.
Mr Khalil, who twice vied for a governorship seat in the state, is an influential religious leader in Kano.
