Shocking details regarding the death of 6-year-old boy, Usman Ahmad, in the hands of kidnapper at Dabai quarters in Gwale Local Government Area of Kano state, have emerged.
DAILY NIGERIAN gathered that the kidnapper missed his target and abducted another boy in error.
Inside sources confirmed that the kidnapper was contracted by the mother of the victim to abduct her stepson but the plan went awry when the abductor wrongly picked her son.
The mother, according to the source, felt that the target boy was her husband’s favourite, hence the decision to kidnap him and get money from her “rich but stingy” husband.
“She had wanted her step son, whose mother died, to be picked but her 6-year-old son fell into the trap,” the source said.
Narrating further, the source said: “She and the kidnapper had arranged that when he came to the main entrance to the house, he would announce his presence by calling on her house help who would not be around at the time.
“When he calls the name, she would now send the target boy out to him.
“On the fateful day, he properly stationed himself at the entrance, waiting for any boy to emerge.
“The plan was that the kidnap would take place at the time of going to Islamic school, so that she could provide an alibi that she sent the children out for school.
“But she ran out of luck when her when her son was the first to go out. While she was about sending her late stepson out, already her husband had sent her son out to school a few minutes earlier.
“The kidnapper then picked the first boy that emerged from the house.
“After the operation, the kidnapper took the boy to a friend’s house and later an uncompleted building and tied him before contacting the boy’s father for ransom.
“All entreaties from the woman to secretly release her son fell on the kidnapper’s deaf ears.
“Two days without food, the boy died of starvation.
“He initially demanded 20million but later reduced the ransom after the death of the boy,” said a security who pleaded anonymity.
Public Relations Officer of the Kano state Police Command, Magaji Majiya said already, the State Security Services, SSS, had arrested the kidnapper.
“The DSS has promised to transfer the case to the state Criminals Investigation Department (CID) for further investigation,” he said.
He added as soon as investigation was completed, the suspect and all other accomplices would be charged to court.
