The Igbo Youth Assembly, IYA, worldwide, a socio-cultural youth organisation, has urged  President Muhammadu Buhari to look out for core qualities of patriotism and dependability in appointing a replacement for his late Chief of Staff, CoS, Abba Kyari.

The youth body made this known in a condolence message to the president, signed by its Secretary-General, Casmir Irekamba, on Friday in Owerri.

Mr Irekamba described the late Kyari as a loyal, patriotic and dependable CoS and called on politicians in the country to emulate his legacies.

He also condoled with President Buhari and the deceased’s family over what he described as a bitter loss, which had created a big vacuum in the country.

Reflecting on late Kyari’s contributions to improve democracy and good governance, Irekamba noted that the deceased should be fondly remembered although he might have stepped on toes while discharging his duties.

“The Igbo Youth Assembly worldwide was embittered that the demise of Mr Kyari has left a huge vacuum in the country and is indeed a trying time, especially for Buhari and the deceased’s family.

“We, however, urge Buhari to carefully select someone who is patriotic, loyal, trustworthy and God-fearing as his next Chief of Staff for the country to continue to move on,” he said.

He urged Nigerians to pray for the country’s leaders so as to achieve the ultimate goal of national cohesion and better living conditions, especially in the face of challenges.
