The Governing Council of the Federal University, Birnin-Kebbi, FUBK, has approved the appointment of Abubakar Aliyu as the new Registrar of the university.
A statement by the Head of Information & Public Relations department of the university, Jamilu Magaji, said the appointment was approved on Wednesday during the 14th meeting of the governing council, following the recommendation from the Joint Senate and Council Selection Board.
According to Mr Magaji, the appointment is for a single and non-renewable term of five years, which takes effect from the date he assumes duty.

Reviewing his CV, Mr Magaji said the new registrar has over three decades of professional experience.
“He started his working career with the Nigeria Immigration Service in 1988 as Assistant Superintendent and left as the Chief Superintendent of Immigration in 2005.
“He joined the services of Usmanu Danfodiyo University in 2006 as Assistant Registrar, where he rose through ranks to become the Deputy Registrar in 2016,” he stated.
He added that the new Registrar holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in (English/Hausa) from Bayero University, Kano in 1986.
“Mr Aliyu attended the Government Day Secondary School, Zaria from 1977 to 1982 and Local Education Authority Primary School Pada, Zaria from 1971 to 1977.
“He is the Head of Registry Department as well as the Chief Administrative Officer of the University and also responsible to the Vice Chancellor for the day-to-day administration of the Institution,” Mr Magaji noted.
The 54-year-old Abubakar Aliyu, born in Zaria local government area of Kaduna, is a member of the Association of Nigerian University Professional Administrators, ANUPA.
