The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria, NAHCON, on Saturday announced the reduction of fares for 2019 hajj.
The commission, in a statement signed by Fatima Usara, head of Public Affairs, said it arrived at the decision after a meeting with various state Executive Secretaries across the 36 states and FCT Abuja.
This, according to the commission was a result of downward review of reclassification of land transportation routes, as well as reduction of their rates on the portal of Kingdom of Saudi Arabian Ministry of Hajj and Umrah on transportation routes that would be used by Nigeria.

The intending pilgrims, according to the statement would receive 620 Saudi Rials, equivalent to N51,170.45.
“The meeting had almost all the state ESCO in attendees, therefore, the commission has ordered all the state executive secretaries to refund back the said amount to the intending pilgrims,” the statement read in part.
Meanwhile, the commission had announced the extension of Hajj fare payment to July 15, 2019, saying that the decision is to enable intending pilgrims to complete their payments.
