Plateau Proactive Youths, PPY, has called on Governor Simon Lalong to support the member representing Wase Federal Constituency, Idris Maje, in his bid of becoming the Speaker of the House of Representatives.
The National Coordinator of the group, Timothy Dungs, who gave the task in a statement in Jos, stated that when Mr Maje becomes the Speaker, Plateau’s name would rise high on the scale of national politics.
According to Mr Dungs, such development would also facilitate many projects and employment opportunities for the people of the state.

The national coordinator said Mr Maje, in the years he had been in the House of Reps., “has demonstrated to his constituents that good governance and quality representation are possible by embarking on programmes that have positive impacts on his constituents.”
“He has shown commitment in improving the welfare of his people through the provision of quality education, health, youth empowerment, infrastructural development and quality representation of the interest of his state at the national stage,” the PPY said.
It added that; “You cannot take away the fact that Hon. Maje is a leader with compassion for the improvement of the plight of the masses and that was why he was made the chairman of the House Committee on Federal Character in the 7th Assembly and he retained the same position during the current 8th Assembly until his elevation to become the Deputy House Leader late last year.”
The group said as chairman of the Federal Character Committee of the House of Representatives, Mr Maje fought consistently to bridge the disparity and imbalances in various states and regions in terms of employment and infrastructural distribution.

Mr Dung added that the lawmaker has distinguished himself as a man of justice, equity and fairness.
“He is humble, sound and has a passion for the unity and peaceful coexistence of Nigeria, so Plateau cannot afford not to support and we call on Governor Simon Lalong who knows the value of sound legislative experience to give him all the support as that would accelerate both human and infrastructural development in the state,” he said.
