The federal government on Sunday expressed resolve to inaugurate a national action committee on Lassa fever, following the outbreak of the fever in the country.
A statement by Mrs Boade Akinola, the Director Media and Public Relation in the Federal Ministry of Health, quoted the Minister of Health, Professor Isaac Adewale, as indicating that the ministry would convene an Emergency National Council on Health meeting to discuss the on-going Lassa fever outbreak in the country.
According to the statement, the committee would be inaugurated during the emergency meeting, scheduled to hold on January 19.
The minister had earlier put the number of cases at 129 on January 14 while addressing the Senate Committee on Health on the outbreak of the disease in the country.
